Privacy Policy

RideWiser ("we", "our", "us") is a free commute-planning and fare-comparison tool for Bengaluru, available at ridewiser.in. We are built around data minimisation: there are no accounts, no sign-ups, and we collect as little as possible. This policy explains exactly what we do and don't do with your information.

1. No account, no profile

You can use RideWiser without creating an account or giving us your name, email address or phone number. We do not build a personal profile of you and we do not sell or rent any data to anyone.

2. Location you provide

Origin & destination: To plan a route and compare fares we need your start and end points. You provide these by typing an address, dropping a pin on the map, or tapping "Use current location".
GPS: Your device location is only requested when you tap "Use current location", and only to centre the map or set your starting point. You can decline; the app still works.
We do not track you in the background and we do not keep a persistent history of your movements.

3. Saved on your device only

For convenience, the following are stored locally in your browser (localStorage) on your device and are not transmitted to us:

Recent routes and saved places (Home, Office, favourites)
Your chosen language
A one-time flag used so the visitor counter counts you only once

You can clear all of this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for ridewiser.in.

4. Anonymous feedback

If you send feedback from inside the app, it is delivered to our team through a third-party form service (Web3Forms). We do not ask for your name or email — only include them if you choose to type them in. Feedback is used solely to improve RideWiser.

5. Anonymous usage count

We show a simple count of how many people have used RideWiser using a privacy-friendly hit counter (Abacus). It increments an anonymous public number. We do not use advertising cookies, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking.

6. Third-party services

Google Maps Platform (Maps, Places, Directions/Routes, Geocoding) powers the map, address search and route/schedule data. These requests are subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not send Google any account or identity information about you.
Ride-hailing & transit apps: When you tap to book or track, we "deep-link" to the relevant app (Uber, Ola, Rapido, inDrive, Namma Yatri, Namma Metro WhatsApp, the official BMTC app/Tummoc, etc.). From that point your data is governed by that provider's own policy.
City & government services: RideWiser offers shortcut links to official third-party portals — for example electricity (BESCOM), water (BWSSB), property tax (BBMP), FASTag (NHAI/IHMCL), LPG gas (MyLPG), Aadhaar (UIDAI), DigiLocker, PAN (UTIITSL), passport (Passport Seva), driving licence / RC (Parivahan) and EPFO/PF. Tapping a shortcut simply opens that official website; we do not collect, see, or transmit anything you enter there. Each portal has its own privacy policy, and we are not affiliated with or responsible for them.

7. Payments

RideWiser never processes payments and never sees your card, UPI or banking details. Any purchase (a ride, a ticket, a pass, a bill) happens entirely inside the third-party app or portal you are sent to.

8. Children

RideWiser is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
